Our Studio

There is a place at Urban Body for all bodies. As a studio, we work in areas including: injury prevention, rehabilitation from injury, cross training for athletes and dancers, pre and post-natal, senior fitness, spine injuries, and movement for overall health, wellness, fitness and vitality. The methods we teach focus on movement, strength, flexibility and overall range of motion. We teach breath based work in both Pilates and GYROTONIC® training, so you get more than just a workout. Pilates and Gyrotonic training is part of a corrective movement, meaning we focus on teaching proper form and postural alignment while moving and breathing. We remain true to teaching Classical Pilates the way Joseph Pilates intended the work to be. Our studio is fully equipped with Gyrotonic specialized equipment. Through both methods you will leave our studio feeling invigorated and powerful! Private Training

Urban Body San Jose is proud to offer Private Sessions which put the client in a one-on-one setting with the trainer to accomplish goals in a way that is specific to the one client.

First time sessions can be booked and paid for directly from our 'BOOK' tab. You can continue to schedule sessions via our website, or, after your initial first session, you can schedule internally with our trainers. If you schedule internally, sessions are billed within 24-hours of completion with the current credit card on file.  Please note to book your first session with us online! If you choose to continue sessions on an ongoing basis, the studio and trainers will speak to you about scheduling a standing weekly appointment.

Small Group Classes

GYROTONIC® Tower classes are designed to take the body beyond it’s current limitations. People come out of a Gyrotonic class with increased freedom of movement, greater strength, and more agility. Athletes and dancers improve performance. Rehabilitation clients recover quicker, and more fully post injury. The human body is designed to work as one harmonious system, to follow arching and spiraling paths of motion, and to transition from one movement to the next smoothly and efficiently. Gyrotonic Method creator, Juliu Horvath, designed a specialized line of equipment around these natural movement patterns. Because Gyrotonic equipment is highly adjustable, it can be customized to fit each persons unique physique and ability, adapting for things such as height, arm/leg length and range of motion. Join us on the Tower and choose from an array of classes from beginner to advanced. We also offer a Gyrotonic for Dancers Small Group Session.

Classical Pilates

In this 55 minute class, you will explore the brilliance of the Pilates Method by diving into the exercises and exploring how they relate on the different pieces of specialized equipment invented by Joseph Pilates. As a fully equipped Classical Pilates studio, you will have the opportunity to work on the Reformer, Cadillac, Tower Units, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, and Magic Circle. The foundation being the classical mat work, we add spring resistance from the equipment for weight training, to support the body, ensure proper alignment and maximize core strength. We integrate the principles of Pilates into each class to ensure that each exercise is executed with great integrity and provide participants the space to translate what we learn in this class to functional everyday life. Not only will you leave feeling connected in your body, but your sense of well being will be enhanced by a focused mind body connection inherent in the work. This is an open level class customizable to wherever you are in your body.

book small group CLASS
Classical Pilates Mat /

Single Class: $30
This small group class is ideal for both beginners and advanced practitioners. A 55 minute journey of fitness and breath, in this small group Pilates class: you will learn the six principles of Pilates and incorporate them in a series of 34 mat exercises created by Joe Pilates himself. We add props such as weights, the Pilates Magic Circle, and bands to enhance your experience. Learn to beat the odds of gravity by understanding proper alignment and creating strength within your body to stand taller and create better posture. Leave feeling lengthened and strengthened.

Gyrokinesis classes can be adapted to fit anyone's ability. People from all walks of life including accomplished athletes, fitness enthusiasts, senior citizens, and people recovering from an injury or dealing with a disability take Gyrokinesis classes. By the end of a Gyrokinesis session, one's entire system is awakened and brought into greater balance.
